Listen to carefly, this secret story is・・・・・・・・・・
The first time I went to Chinatown, hrer in Bangkok,
I was thinking how wonderful it would be to own an Edo Komon, it is material.
This is the old name for Tokyo and is also a black silk with a very fine pattern all over it.
The motifs are in whilte and are delicately illustrated in dots.
I saw the material from outside the shop, said wow and rushes in.
This style of Kimono decoration has a long and very special history, it was only used by the ruling Samurai families.
Like the Tartans of far off Scotland the motif and color varied from family to family.
It was always an intense preice grid using dots and displayed the power of each family.
Common people were not allowed to use these patterns but nowadays we can.
I had never been able to afford this most expensive material and so I took my opportunity,
bought it and went home to make this beautihul Kimono, and used a rust red lining.
The total cost was 600 batht. It is an unbelievable price.
Why so cheap, you ask?
Don't tell anyone - its polyester and Japanese people can't tell the difference and I don't tell them.
Tis my best secret and I hope nobody from Japan reade this.
However, I do not yet meet this following secret Edo Komon material.
